REGARDING the report concerning complaints of rudeness by police (Echo, Friday 25th) I had to laugh at the alleged comment by Gloucestershire police' that budget cuts might make it difficult to improve this.

I was always taught "politeness costs nothing". Seriously though, what does the public want? A politically correct diffident social worker or a law enforcer.
