Venturing inside, he discovers six friendly insects and together they embark on a magical journey. Animated and live-action fantasy, based on Roald Dahl's novel, starring Paul Terry, Joanna Lumley and Miriam Margolyes. CARVE HER NAME WITH PRIDE (1958) .... BBC2, 1.10pm A French officer's widow is enlisted as a spy, and risks her life by going behind enemy lines in occupied France. Lewis Gilbert's drama, based on the true story of World War Two hero Violette Szabo, starring Virginia McKenna, Paul Scofield, Jack Warner, Sydney Tafler and Billie Whitelaw.

CHRISTMAS (2007) ... five, 2pm A 10-year-old boy enters an essay- writing competition, pleading for a new husband for his mother. When their story becomes a national sensation, she is inundated with proposals - and is torn over whether to accept an offer from a wealthy man she does not love. Drama, starring Gail O'Grady and Jimmy 'Jax' Pinchak. MRS MIRACLE (2009) ... five, 4.05pm A widowed pianist struggles to cope with raising two sixyear-old twin boys alone and has been unable to enjoy his love of music since his wife's death. The arrival of an able housekeeper helps him turn his life around, leading him to fall for a former actress who has also put her creative talents on hold. Drama, starring Doris Roberts.
