VOLUNTEERS have put their names forward to brighten up the library in Prestbury.

Around a dozen people have signed up to take over the contract for the maintenance of the library from Gloucestershire County Council on January 1. Prestbury Parish Council chairman Malcolm Stennett called a meeting to gather a group of helpers to carry out tasks including cleaning the windows, planting flowers and vacuuming. The parish council's contractor will continue to mow the lawns.
