TRIBUTES were paid to the retiring Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Sir Henry Elwes, for all the help and encouragement he has given to businesses in the county during his time in office.

Sir Henry has served as the Queen's official representative for 19 years and during that time has presented 51 Queen's Awards to Industry - more than any other county. At the awards ceremony, the editor of The Citizen Ian Mean presented Sir Henry with a c ut- glass rose bowl on behalf of Gloucestershire Media and the business community in Gloucestershire. "Sir Henry has been a tremendous support to Gloucestershire business," said Mr Mean.
