STUDENTS from across the county have been gaining knowledge on renewable energy as part of a work experience course. Tetbury-based Ecovision held the two-day event at their Barley Court office in Doughton. The renewable energy company said it was overwhelmed with applicants but could only take 12. Harry Shepherd, of Avening, spent time designing a biomass installation for his parent's home. He said: "It gave me an insight into all areas of renewables and it made a change from most work experience where you end up photocopying and making coffee." Representatives from Dimplex Renewables and Mitsubishi joined the Ecovision team to guide them through the various technologies available, financial benefits and environmental impact if we continue to use fossil fuels. The course included design work, costing and chairman Peter Randall and managing director, Julian Sowerbutts put participants through an interview.
Charlie Cochrane, of Cheltenham, is a former pupil at Dean Close School. He said he was now committed to pursuing a career in renewables. "It was a very informative, laid back and useful couple of days," he said.See the full content of this document
