A PIPE once owned by the Poet Laureate Lord Alfred Tennyson has sold at Dominic Winter's auction in South Cerney for Pounds 340.
The six-inch clay pipe, in its original leather case, was inscribed with the words A. Tennyson's Pipe, Farringford, July 27 1883. Tennyson was a devoted pipe smoker and the pipe shows evidence of much usage and chewing of the tip.See the full content of this document
