STORY: Cheltenham Town fans' forum - full report Paul Baker should not blame the people of Cheltenham for the club's poor attendances, he should blame the FOOTBALL fans of Cheltenham. Not every citizen of every town likes football or if they do, they might be actually playing for their local club, which may produce local talent for you in the future? Also, they may play other sports like rugby, hockey etc. If Pounds 25k is all that is needed, surely the directors could stump up that between them, or like good financial directors, raise the funds somehow? LeJaques, Fairview Who was the player who didn't turn up for training? We should be told as it is our money which pays his wages. Also the fans that do turn up earn nothing like Pounds 2k a week so the minimum we expect is effort and commitment which loan players have not displayed. Baker has made one big mistake in appointing Allen and giving him carte blanche to sign who he wanted. I am sure once the Allen saga is sorted he will admit this. We all make mistakes I still think Baker has done wonders and should be thanked for everything he has done over the last 14 years. Where were we 14 years ago? Gareth Jones, Cheltenham I think Mr Baker and the Board deserve a lot of praise. Especially for putting their hands into there own pockets for the latest loan signings. Last night also put to bed a lot of unreal rumours people have been hearing and making up about Simon Keswick. Schofield fining a player two weeks wages definitely says a lot and shows he has discipline. Give Schofield time and if we can perform like we did on Tuesday night Schofield could do well for us.
Dan, Tewkesbury LeJaques, maybe you should have attended the forum last night then, then you could have had a better insight into the workings of a football club and what they have to do to survive. Paul Baker gave honest and frank answers and clearly is a man who is fed up with the bad mouthing he and his staff have been getting lately. Yes it is easy for anyone to ask the directors to dip into their own pockets, but one thing that came out and is written in this article if you had read it, the two loan signings are being privately funded by directors NOT by the club, but of course their pockets are bottomless aren't they. One thing that did come out from last night, was the fact that the club doesn't promote itself enough, hiding away in the corner with people of the town not knowing that much about their very own football club. It's happened at other clubs, having the players go into town on week days and handing out leaflets and flyers with promotions or events that people could attend.See the full content of this document
