Lloyds TSB's takeover of rival Halifax Bank of Scotland could result in nearly a quarter of the group's 3,000 high street branches being axed, it has been reported.
According to the Independent on Sunday, Lloyds, which does the bulk of its mortgage lending under its Cheltenham & Gloucester brand, has contacted property consultants to close as many as 700 premises when the pounds12 billion deal is completed.See the full content of this document
