THE Midcounties Co-operative has announced an "outstanding' performance with a 19 per cent increase in trading profit to a record Pounds 19.3 million.
The member-owned community retailer, which covers several counties including Gloucestershire, surpassed expectations despite the recession when it announced its year end results for 2009/10 last week. Its wide range of businesses - including food stores, travel branches, pharmacies, funeral and childcare businesses - helped notch up total gross sales of Pounds 787m, Pounds 39m more than the previous year.
