ONE hundred construction jobs have been saved after Brockworth- based Mears Group agreed to step in and take over a major contract that was being operated by collapsed building firm Rok.
Mears has agreed to take on the Bristol City Council contract and work with Merlin Housing Society in South Gloucestershire. Rok, which went into administration after failing to keep up the payments on loans, employed 3,800 staff across the UK and virtually all of the workforce have since been laid off. Rok was halfway through a Pounds 37 million contract with Bristol City Council to repair and upgrade thousands of homes across north Bristol.See the full content of this document
