COTSWOLDS designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is juggling interiors projects with a new found vocation as a judge on reality TV show Popstar To Operastar. Fellow Gloucestershire celebrity Alex James, from Blur, also appeared on the ITV show as a contestant but was the first to be voted off at the start of the series.

The finalists - Darius and Bernie Nolan - were due to go head to head for the title last night. Laurence, who lives in Siddington, near Cirencester, says: "One of the most fantastic things about it is that we're taking pop stars who have a certain fame or celebrity, but we're throwing them into the deep end, because singing opera isn't something you can really busk; you can't blag it.
