No Justification at All for Shooting Down Buzzard ; Letters

Summary

WHOEVER shot down the buzzard over Bishop's Cleeve really should be ashamed of themselves.

Buzzards are not a food source for humans. They may take other birds that are a food sources for us but surely a percentage of these birds must be lost so that the buzzards can survive, whereas we have other food sources. We have no right to shoot them just because they may be threat to our income because they take the birds that our customers shoot, We have less right even no right to game birds than the buzzards or any other bird of prey as with any of God's creations including our fellow humans we have no right to harm them in this case by shooting. And why is the fact that their population is doing well a reason not to have adequate legal protection against cruelty such as egg stealing, poisoning or shooting? We are at risk of making the same mistake with buzzards as we have made in the past with for example eagles. Just because the shotgun is a so called 'more humane' form of killing a bird of prey it doesn't justify shooting it.
