SNOW and ice in the county earlier this year cost Gloucestershire's hospitals about Pounds 3 million. The cold snap in January, which left areas of Gloucestershire plagued by inches of snow, led to staff absences and patient cancellations at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

At the annual members' meeting of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, finance director Sarah Truelove said: "Adverse weather in January and February really affected income.
