Group Flips Its Lid at Bugged Wheelie Bins

MICROCHIPS have been placed in 39,500 household bins by Cotswold District Council, it has been revealed. Privacy campaign body Big Brother Watch has discovered the local authority is one of 68 nationwide to install the controversial device - which electronically monitors individual householders' rubbish.

The national figure has leapt up 62 per cent on the 42 councils uncovered in a previous Freedom of Information Act inquiry in March 2009.
