Summary
Cheltenham Town Hall THERE was an audible sigh from a packed Town Hall of mostly female fans as James Martin revealed he was no longer unattached. For he had wooed us with cooking and conversation in a hugely entertaining hour and by the end we all wanted to be whisked away on his idea of a great date - fish and chips from his favourite chippy in Whitby. The Saturday Kitchen host proved quite a showman as he chatted and joked about his culinary career and then got cooking, rustling up deep fried cod cheeks with tartare sauce, followed by cheesecake with a confit of blackberries and plums - all in about 12 minutes.
A Yorkshireman and proud of it, he grew up with farming and growing produce. He knew he wanted to be a chef by the age of five and in his teens was working for star chefs such as the late lamented Keith Floyd.See the full content of this document
