Summary
Mainland Britain's most southerly point, the Lizard peninsular is one of Cornwall's most unspoilt areas. At its heart are the Goonhilly Downs. Besides being home to the Earth satellite tracking station, this area of ancient moorland provides the habitat for the rare smooth snake.
Even today the Lizard has a remote feel about it. This was the last stronghold of Cornish, a language close to the Basque tongue, which largely disappeared in the 18th century.See the full content of this document
