Alterations for a New Flat Approved

PLANNED alterations to a grade two listed building in the heart of Tewkesbury have been approved. Philip Workman's application, to create a studio flat on the first floor of 77 Barton Street, was given the go-ahead by the borough council's planning committee.

Members approved the scheme, despite one councillor's fear that it might cause parking problems. Councillor Elaine MacTiernan (C, Northway) said she failed to see why the proposal was acceptable, in parking terms, when a plan for nearby Saffron Road had been rejected earlier in the meeting because of a lack of parking space.
