WE'VE had a tumultuous 18 months since Bites Back started in March 2009. Although general sentiment has improved, businesses are still holding back on investment. Credit is in short supply and we now face significant job losses as a consequence of public sector cuts. This campaign has spread the word about the different ways that companies can access support and a range of programmes tailored to their needs.

These include the RDA-administered Grant for Research and Development, which has helped dozens of companies get new ideas into production. In Gloucestershire, we've helped Stroud-based Himag Solutions to develop next-generation lightweight, high-performance and high-efficiency planar transformers, which are smaller and more reliable than traditional technology.
