A MAMMOTH fundraising campaign which has paid for an interactive play area for children at a special needs school will be marked with an official opening this week.

The Battledown Centre for Children and Families, which caters for youngsters with physical and learning difficulties, will launch the Pounds 180,000 area before more than 100 dignitaries and supporters on Friday. It will draw a line under an 18-month fundraising campaign which saw the centre raise Pounds 140,000 on top of the Pounds 40,000 from its own budget.
