MANY thousands of tenants are using landlords that are claiming to be professionals yet who lack even the most basic understanding of how to manage their lettings business. These unscrupulous landlords are passing themselves off as members of professional landlords' associations that adhere to a code of practice. The National Landlords Association, the UK's leading representative body for private-residential landlords, has just launched its own online database of NLA members.

Fall in Reluctant Landlords Is Sign Market Is Picking Up

THE number of people being forced to rent out their homes because they cannot sell them is falling as the housing market picks up, research shows. The Association of Residential Letting Agents said it had seen a drop in the number of its members who reported dealing with so- called reluctant landlords during the three months to the end of June.
