Fans Get Their Fill of City Rivalry

MOST bitter of rivals and greatest of friends would be a fair description of the historic rivalry between Gloucester and Bath on the rugby field. The first two fixtures many Cherry and Whites fans will ink into their diaries are the home game on 5 September and the away game to give them something to look forward to over Christmas on 27 December. To have completed the double over the old enemy last season was, for many, far more important than winning any silverware.

Hartpury Trials to Attract the Stars

WORLD champion Zara Phillips, on Glenbuck, heads the star- studded cast of riders heading to The Mitsubishi Motors Hartpury International Horse Trials at Hartpury College from August 13 to 16. Olympic bronze medallists William Fox-Pitt, riding both Tamarillo and Idalgo, and Tina Cooke, on Daisy Dick, will also be there, as will Badminton winner Oliver Townend and Pippa Funnell.

THIRTEEN members of the Gloucestershire Disabled Anglers fished the Jim Hawkes memorial match at Dark Barn. On a blustery day with showers, all caught mixed nets of silver fish and carp and most caught at least one eel.

The 34-year-old completed Cheltenham's off-road Super Sprint Triathlon in which she swam 400 metres in the pool at Leisure@Cheltenham, cycled 10km through Pittville Park and ran 2.5km around it at the weekend in just under an hour.

Keith's Hour in Spotlight

KEITH Davis was thrilled with his time in the national spotlight when he stood on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth. The 64-year-old, from Bushley, did his bit to promote his home town of Tewkesbury. He dressed up in a town crier's uniform that he borrowed from Tewkesbury Museum and read poems about Tewkesbury. He also borrowed a school bell and proudly promoted Tewkesbury.
