Painswick's Title Hopes Hit by Kingsholm
Painswick's hopes of catching Gloucestershire Division leaders Hatherley and Reddings took a blow as they suffered an 11-run defeat to Kingsholm. A fine half-century from James Markey, coupled with some tidy bowling, helped Kingsholm claim victory in a low-scoring affair at Broadham Fields.
Stroud slumped to a disappointing nine-wicket defeat at Swindon in the Glos/Wilts Division. A frail batting line-up was exposed again by one of the leading sides in the division as Swindon skittled Paul Frape's men out for a lowly 134 from 48.2 overs.
Big Names Heading for Frocester
A Host of top names from sport and entertainment will be at Frocester Cricket Club tomorrow (Thursday). The Lord's Taverners are staging a celebrity match against a team led by former Gloucestershire captain and coach Mark Alleyne.
Cheltenham Civil Service 137 all out, Frocester III 140 for 3 FROCESTER thirds scored another emphatic victory in their quest to win County Division One.
Stroud Masters Finish in the Medals
In another busy weekend for the swimmers of Stroud Masters, a team of eight competed at the ASASW 1500m distance swim at GL1 Gloucester. Mark Gardner and newcomer Lewis Saunders were first off the blocks, keeping pace with each other for the first 1000m.
Walker Back in Play As Stanley Shine
After last week's humiliation at the hands of Hawkesbury, Leonard Stanley made the short journey to Stratford Court with a stronger side to take on early league leaders Woodchester. Woodchester batted first and found run scoring difficult thanks to the accuracy and inaccuracy of the Stanley bowlers.
Commoners' Chase Comes Up 27 Short

Super Ben Crowned Best of the West
The best of the South West of England's swimming sprinters converged on GL1 to compete in the annual South West Sprint Championships. Swimmers from Bournemouth, Truro, Salisbury and Exeter travelled the long distance to see who would be crowned best in the West.
Dan Delighted As Dry Run Leaves Him Second
Dan Cooper clinched second place in round five of the Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Snetterton. The Stroud racer, who competes for Centurion Racing, led the team home after team-mate Tom Grant crashed out on lap 10.
Sixty competitors from Stroud and District took part in the 18th running of the Cotswold Relay. This year Stroud submitted six teams of 10 individuals to compete with 62 other teams over the 10 stages of the 103-mile race from Chipping Camden to Bath Abbey.
The Stroud and District Skittle League AGM will be held at Stroud Rugby Club next Tuesday from 7.30pm All teams are invited to attend.
Chas and Dave Call Tune for Bowmen
In Week seven of the Slimbridge Front Pin Summer Skittle League the Bowmen recorded a narrow single-pin victory over the Breezers to move back into fourth position. Dave Harrison hit a 13 spare for the winners while Chas Vincent was top scorer with 48.
Bowler Huxford Runs Riot yet Again
In The SDCA Premier League Minchinhampton recorded the highest score of the day. Jamie Waring's 42 saw them to 165, while Hardwicke slumped to 78 all out. It would have been worse had Jason Taylor not contributed 42.
Burger Should Not Leave Bad Taste in Mouth
Damn the ramifications, ignore the implications and forget the fallout - at least for a moment. Saturday's second Test between South Africa and the Lions in Pretoria was an astonishing rugby match. It had incident and excitement, twists and turns, speed and skill, high drama and indomitable will as well as the tensest of all possible finishes. As a contest it was right out of the top drawer.

Mangan Holds Talks with Rivals Wrexham
Forest Green striker Andy Mangan has held transfer talks with Blue Square Premier rivals Wrexham. Mangan, who won the Golden Boot with 26 goals in 39 appearances last season, is out of contract at the New Lawn and keen on a move back to his native North West.
Smith Joins Robins for Pre-Season Trial
Midfielder Ben Smith will link up with Cheltenham Town for their first day of pre-season training today. The 30-year-old made 40 appearances for Hereford United last season, but looks set to leave Edgar Street, and Robins boss Martin Allen has invited him along for a trial.

International squash is on its way to the East Glos club in Cheltenham. The Saudi Arabian national team will be taking on the best players from England and Wales on July 17 as part of the Saudi/ British Sports Co-operation Programme.
India Calling for Gloucestershire Squash Duo
The searing heat and humidity of Chennai in southern India is beckoning for two young squash players from Gloucestershire. Gloucester's Julianne Courtice and Cheltenham's Nathan Lake will be jetting off to India later this month to represent England under 19s in the World Junior Championships.
